Be a wise steward of all assets: Time, Success, Health, Wealth, and Relationships.
In creation, we as human beings, own nothing. God owns everything, and we have the honor and privilege of being entrusted with its care during our earthly life. Stewardship is our reasonable service and privileged responsibility for it’s care.
Stewardship begins with the understanding that everything we have is a gift from the Lord: our time, our relationships, our health, our gifts and talents, our financial resources, and yes, even our life itself.
God is all about relationship, and since we as believers of Jesus are now in a son-ship relationship with God through Jesus in faith, now a very grateful, privileged attitude of stewardship flows, from this son-ship relationship, that God has given us access to.
The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains, the world and all those who dwell in it. – Psalms 24:1-2
For example, A bit of wisdom regarding relationship stewardship: At times, relationships may feel like a distraction or hassle to an abundant life ( but a wise person is not motivated/controlled by their feelings) but in reality, relationships are our very reason for our existence. Why was I born? Why am I on Earth? For a relationship with God and God’s people. Such as with immediate family members, we may not always love that person’s behavior, but we always love the person. A wise man makes the distinction between the person and the person’s behavior. Set proper, healthy boundaries, but do not reject the person. At times it may be difficult to love the person, because of potentially massively inappropriate behavior, but Jesus in you loves the person. Be a wise steward of your family, friends, and acquaintances that God has given you and that God puts in your path, because we are all made in the image of God. God calls his people a “peculiar people”, in its Latin meaning: “peculiar” means “infinite value: unable to put a price tag on”, so all of us have infinite value. Therefore since our relationships have value, we should be a wise steward of our relationships.
Wise stewardship of the people you have in your life is the number one indicator of your success and future. Simply stated, biblical stewardship means God’s ownership and our partnership. God does not need us to do stuff, He is more than powerful enough to do things without us, but he created us to be along for the ride( this wondrous, adventurous fellowship with God and relationship God gives us). Our reasonable response to God is tremendous appreciation and thanksgiving for all that He has given, including the wonderful diversity of relationships that God has brought into our lives (throughout all stages of our lives). A tremendous picture exemplifying wise appropriate people stewardship is found in Luke 15.
